Built in 1333 as a part of the Republic of Dubrovnik, the main goal of the Ston Walls was to protect the Pelješac peninsula. The Stone Walls are 7000 metres long, and it is often said they are the smaller version of the Great Wall of China.
The defensive wall and one of the largest medieval fortification-urban projects in a total length of 5.5 km, the walls were reinforced with 40 acres and 5 fortresses. Ston and Mali Ston connect.
