In Argyropupolis village it used to be called in the ancient times Ancient Lappa. There are a lot of reminders from the Venetian and the Roman occupation. Like ancient monuments a Roman mosaic floor showing a woman. Lots of statues, pottery, coins and under ground findings are in Rethymno city museum. I recommend you to visit the old town of Argyroupolis Ancient Lappa whcih begins from Lappa Avocado Cosmetics store which sells avocado products from their trees. And take a round tour around the old town seeing beautiful Venetian mansion and on the nice doorframes some have Latin inscriptions. A nice tour taking you back in time. Leaving Argyroupolis village you can go to Springs of Argyroupolis were the waterfalls are and the river mouselas goes all around the taverns. Making a wonderfull sceneray with plane trees bannanes, fig trees a green oasis. A cool relaxing enviroment to enjoy a nice walk in nature and water running everywhere.
