Swallow Cottage, Auldgirth - north of Dumfries.

Swallow Cottage was lovingly converted by Steve and Sarah from McMurdoston's old granary in 2014 and provides a wonderfully peaceful place to stay while exploring Dumfries and Galloway. The cottage is only 20 minutes drive from a 24-hour supermarket, a cinema and numerous eateries, but once you get here you'll feel as if you are truly in the middle of nowhere. We live just across the yard if you need us and we'll do everything we can to make your stay comfortable, relaxing and quietly memorable.

Fantastic views over the Nith Estuary, great for watching the wildfowl. Graded 3* by Visit Scotland, the cottage sits, not too far from Dumfries, in a rural location on the owner's dairy farm and has superb views over the upper reaches of the Nith Estuary on the Solway coast. The area is famed for its connections with Sir Peter Scott who created the wonderful wild fowl reserve at Caerlaverock for wintering geese and other birds.

There is two bedrooms: 1 with a comfy king size bed and the other with 2 single beds. The Lily Pod is a self-contained holiday pod situated at our pond here at Lochhill Farm. It can sleep up to 4 people but more suited to two. The Pod has an open plan bedroom, living, dining and mini kitchen area and an enclosed shower room. Outside we have an open decking looking on to The Pond and stunning views further towards Criffel.
