Join me on a nature foray through Mount Sutro park, a San Francisco hidden gem. You’ll learn to identify local flora and fungi and gain a sense of nature’s interconnectedness.
• We’ll start with the basics of flora and fungi identification, covering safe, sustainable, and ethical practices as well as community science.
• As we walk, I’ll introduce you to common edible, medicinal, toxic, and poisonous plants and mushrooms in this region, helping you identify their seasonality. You’ll learn about their culinary and medicinal uses while gaining insight into the thriving and diverse ecosystems around us.
• I’ll also share stories and knowledge passed down through generations, blending herbalism, Indigenous wisdom, and traditional Chinese medicine. We’ll pause to take in special moments: take in the textures of leaves, the scents of native herbs, and the hidden beauty of fungi nestled along the trails.
• We’ll end our foray with a tea circle, where you’ll reflect and connect with the group over freshly brewed tea and celebrate the unique discoveries we made along the way.
This closing ritual is intended to deepen your connection to nature and community. You’ll also receive a pouch of tea to take home, an invitation to continue exploring the wonders of the natural world.
This experience is hosted and organized by Uproot Teas LLC.
