In the vicinity of Nis, on Cegar hill, the location of the famous First Serbian Uprising battle, there is a monument put up in memory of the courageous soldiers and their commander Stevan Sindjelic. After the battle on Cegar the Ottomans built a Skull Tower from skulls of a parished soldiers. LOCATION: Cegar hill, 6 km from the city centre FREE ENTRANCE

Čegar (Чегар) is the place of famous Battle of Čegar from 1809, which is related to Skull Tower. There is now beautiful tower built in 1927, with splendid panoramic view to city and surrounding hills. It's great place for picnic, leisure and sport activities, away from crowded city streets, but also a place in a vicinity of many churches and monasteries that exist in neighboring villages for many centuries.
