This is a great place to acquaint yourself with the local habitat. It has a big saltwater pond where you can see fish and turtles. It is a great place to take children as there are many learning and touching areas.
The Oceanographic Society gives tours and talks of the native wildlife, as well as the plants that you will see in this area. They are informative as well as educational with their creative exhibits.
Florida Oceanographic Coastal Center is a 57-acre marine life nature center located on Hutchinson Island in Stuart, FL -Situated between the Indian River and the Atlantic Ocean. This is a great activity for everyone!! An absolutely learning and beautiful experience! It also boast a buttlefly garden, a beach walk, and a nature guided walk where you can experience the sounds and smells of nature with very knowledgeable trail guides that would take you on a one-mile loop walk to the Indian River lagoon and back. The short guided trail is one-third the length and is full of information about our native marine wetland habitat and the mangrove swamp. You will need a few hours and them can go for a swim to Jensen beach which is near by.
