These days food and souvenirs are sold at the Market Square, but it’s also a popular place to sit and enjoy coffee and sugar donuts – either by the waterfront (curiously named the “Cholera Pool”) or inside the iconic orange coffee tents in wintertime. The Tsarina’s Stone itself is the oldest public monument in Helsinki and reflects the many layers of history in the nation’s capital. Open: Mon-Thu 6.30am-7pm, Sat 6.30am-6pm. During summer also Sun 10am-5pm Eteläranta, South Harbour

Helsinki Market Square in the harbor. A lot of traditional street food dishes, tourist gift shops, seagulls, boats and people.

A traditional market place in a beautiful location in front of the Presidential Palace and Helsinki City Hall. Next to the market hall. The marketplace often serves traditional meat pie or salmon soup. If you eat ice cream or anything else in your hand, you should watch out for seagulls. From the Market Square ferries can be reached. Suomenlinna and Korkeasaari Zoo. In the afternoon, the big cruisers leave for Stockholm. Adjacent to the Market Square, the pool area and the traditional Esplanade with its restaurants, music stages and parks.

Market square is where the boats to Suomenlinna leave. When the market is open check in one of the cafes there - Finnish president took French president there for a morning coffee. Allas Sea Pool and Helsinki Eye are next to it
