Viking Church Ruins with the best views! The village has a fascinating history, dating back to Viking times. There is an 8th century chapel – St Patrick’s – and iconic rock hewn graves on the dramatic headlands overlooking the Bay just past St Peter’s Church. Managed by the National Trust, this is a truly wonderful urban green space to visit. There is an App available which explains the history of these ruins and of the area.

St Patrick's Chapel is a ruined building that stands on a headland above St Peter's Church, in Heysham, Lancashire, England. It is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade I listed building, and is a Scheduled Ancient Monument. The views from the headland across Morecambe Bay are amazing. A great place for a picnic on a good day.

This is a wonderful place to visit in heysham you can walk the old ruins and grounds of the church for a couple of hours (look out for the famous album cover stones shot here by black sabbeth. Definately worth a visit, and then you can head down to the beach over the hills. Its great to take a picnic and spend the day here walking
