Heavily steeped in history, the 35 acre park with scene of warfare between the Algonquin and Iroquois Indian tribes, and between Indian and American colonies during the revolution. Be sure to see these historic monuments: statue of father Isaac Jogues, the first white man to have seen lake George; bronze sculpture of the Indian; the fugures of General William Johnson and King Hendrick of the Mohawks. Also are the remains of the southwest Bastions of the old Fort George stone fortress. Enjoy a beautiful picnic setting of trees with fireplaces, picnic tables, pavilion, water and sanitary facilities. Sits across the lake. Small parking fee.
