The harbor is the heart of Hamburg! We locals are proud of our maritime history and enjoy seeing the huge ships come into port and the industrial scenery on the other side of the river. Take a stroll along Landungsbrücken and through the old Elbe Tunnel, sit on the Elbstrand or take a harbor cruise. There are also good beach clubs to enjoy when the weather is fine, particularly Strand Pauli.

Very nice scenery. You could go to the Portuguese Quarter afterwards but that´s also a touristic hot spot.

The river Elbe connects Hamburg to the North Sea and there are several boat and ferry tours you can embark on to explore the river all the way up to the port.

If you come from outside Europe, we recommend spending a day at the Hamburg harbour. It is a day trip with a bus like "flixbus". At the harbour, you can make several harbour trips by boat, even in the night. After Berlin, Hamburg would be our next choice of living in Germany. A great city and spirit.
