This museum tells the story of the free people of color, which is an interesting (and important) part of the city's history.

One of the factors that influenced the creation of Jazz and other cultural distinctions between New Orleans and other Southern cities was the existence of Free People of Color in New Orleans even as slavery existed. They are the creators of the Creole cuisine which draws people all over the world.
