This is a local's favorite. They have been in business for many years. If you do not find what you are looking for on the menu ask the waiter and more than likely the cooks will make anything you like as long as the ingredients are there.

A Brief History of Poor Richard’s Bonnie and I established Poor Richard’s Restaurant in April 1977. At that time, we had 60 seats and a dream of an American cuisine restaurant that served our Gainesville community. Bonnie was the hostess and I was in the kitchen working every night. We believed that our success can only be attributed to one thing: our loyal customers. Every time that our guests spoke up regarding making a change to enhance the restaurant, we did our best to listen. We are now proudly serving our fourth generation of guests. Even though the menu has changed over the years, it has kept the true American cuisine Poor Richard’s was founded on. After over 4 decades, all sauces and dressings are still prepared from scratch and the beef is still aged for tenderness and flavor. The seafood arrives twice a week from Florida, while the produce is delivered daily for freshness. Thank you, to all guests from Gainesville, Hall, and surrounding counties for your support through the years. We are so grateful for each and every one of you. Sincerely, Richard and Bonnie LeCain

You MUST get the Poor Richard's salad with their hot bacon salad dressing. It's delicious! We personally recommend sitting the basement. It's a bit like going back in time...but great food! Don't forget to order the salad!

If you like casual, go in the back door at Poor Richards (upstairs is fine dining) to find a sports bar scene reminiscent of Cheers (where everybody knows your name). Great steaks and seafood.
