Great place to buy a snack of fresh snap peas or strawberries or fresh ingredients for cooking. You can also taste fried "muikku", an excellent little fish you eat whole. You can take the public ferry (same cost as local bus) to Suomenlinna at the far end of the market or book a sighseeing boat tour.

A student competition, organized by Aalto University, the City of Helsinki and the Office of Bruce Oreck for finding new concepts for the Market Square through the design of market stall prototypes. The competition will result in built models and an exhibition on the Kauppatori Square. Four finalists will have prototypes on the market square during summer 2016, from which a winner design will be voted for the celebration of the Finnish centennial 2017.

The main Helsinki market square with many delicacies and touristic souvenirs. Dont forget to visit the indoor market hall too. (red brick building near the market place). SORRY, the pictures coming automatically from airbnb and google are not really representative. It is much more attractive location :-)

Market square. Souvenirs etc. Here you can find the ferries to Helsinki Zoo (Korkeasaari) and to UNESCO World Heritage Site "Suomenlinna" Sea Fortress.

Marketplace. Also from here leaves the ferry for Suomenlinna (Included travel with HSL ticket!)
