This is, hands down, the best local food you'll ever eat in Porto, this small 6 table restaurant, is a hidden gem that only locals will tell you about. It only opens it's doors on the weekends, and be sure to get a reservation! If value the gastronomic experience rather than the fancy environment, you will not be disappointed.

There’s one rule at the Rei dos Galos de Amarante: start your meal with the fish soup, and end it with Seia whey cheese and pumpkin jam. In between, choose whatever you want. They have salted white sea bream and sea bass, game rabbit, roast kid goat and even cuttlefish or octopus bean stew. A classic tripe stew is only served on weekends and must be ordered in advance.
