Beaches West Crete
Not only a beautiful beach but the drive through the mountains, the views and the villages are all worth the trip to Elafonissi Beach. Note it does get very crowded in peak season. Plus you will have to park and walk a little to get down to this protected beach.
Look out for the pink coral that is on the shore and do walk or wade across to the island opposite.
Wonderful crystal clear cool water.
Loads of sunbeds and umbrellas, canteens on the beach plus water sports for the adventurous.

Lovely Falassarna beach is the beach only 45mins from Chania. Long beach and is the best place to watch the sun dip in the sea. Ample sunbeds and cool bars as well as low key tavernas & canteens are located on the beach.

Seeing the ancient site of Knossos with a guide is useful so you know what you are actually looking at. Quite a large site to wander around. It does get quite crowded in high season due to it's popularity so ensure to wear a hat, have sun cream and plenty of water with you for the tour.
