Highly recommend taking the tram at the base of Mt. Alyeska to the top of the mountain. The view is incredible and there are a couple of great places to eat while enjoying the spectacular scenery.

Portage Glacier is a fantastic place to visit because it is so close to Girdwood. There is an actual visitor center at the main parking area and they also have boat tours to the glacier that depart multiple times a day.

Whittier is a small little town that was built during WWII. The Army wanted a port strategic location hidden in the mountains so that the Japanese would have a difficult time bombing. Nowadays, there are only remnants of military being there but there is a 2.6 mile tunnel you need to travel through in order to get to the city. Really cool place for a day trip.

Nowadays, there are only remnants of military being there but there is a 2.6 mile tunnel you need to travel through in order to get to the city. Really cool place for a day trip.
The Alaska Wildlife Conversation Center is a fantastic spot to see many different Alaskan animals. Some of the animals include moose, bears, reindeer, birds...this place is a must for families with young kids.

One of the best places to eat in all of Alaska. Their blend of cajun and Alaska cuisine is a must. There are no reservations so make sure you show up early or prepare to wait for a table.

This restaurant is delicious, my favorite spot for breakfast in town. This also happens to be conveniently located right across from the condo unit. They do take reservations, and I highly suggest making arrangements with them as summer time is very busy.

This is a great place to grab a drink and play some billiards or just hang out with family for a meal. I highly enjoy their deep dish pizzas as they are quite delicious.

Getting Around
Powder Hound Ski Shop morphs into a fantastic bike rental shop in the summer time and luckily it is located about 1 minute from the condo. They have many different types of bikes available for rental. I reccomend making a reservation if you know a bike rental is something you are interested in.

Long before the seward highway was in place, this trail was actually part of the original path that inspired the modern day Iditarod. The hike itself is beautiful, I typically hike up to the glacier and then head back to girdwood...anything further than that could be a bit to much for one day. Also be aware of bear activity in the area and bring either bear mace or a firearm for protection.
