Food Scene

This is a great place to stop and get a bagel and coffee at a reasonable price without having to wait too long. Order at the counter. There is a restaurant which is good but is not my first choice for a sit down breakfast in Vail.

Pizza, Italian cusine in the Vail Village. This is a good place to meet for lunch or if you are quitting early. Reasonably priced for this area and the food is really good. It is on the second floor and has a hard to find entrance so you have to be looking for it. It's on the right side of Bridge Street as you are facing the mountain.

Pepi and Sheika, are from Germany. At this high-end restaurant, you can expect delicious German cusine in a fine dining atmosphere. Of course, ski boots are always allowed in Vail restaurants during the ski day! My husband and I love to get up early, ski hard, and then eat a lunch/dinner around 2:00pm on special occasions.

Best burgers and fries in the area but you have to go to Edwards. If you ski at Beaver Creek or Arrowhead, it will make sense to go here. It is fast food/diner atmosphere but the burgers are amazing and so are the tuna sandwiches.

During the Summer and Ski Season, there are many concerts here- big names to not so big names. You need to go to Avon (10 miles west) and then South through town to Beaver Creek. You have to go to the base of the mountain and the venue is there.

If the roads are clear and you want to learn a bit about the wild wild west, go to Leadville which is located South west, about a 40 minute drive. Leadville used to be the capital of Colorado and legends like Molly Brown and Baby Doe Tabor lived there during the mining boom. Located in Leadville is a wonderful mining museum, Baby Doe mine shaft and the highest saloon in North America, called the Silver Dollar Saloon, is located there. There is also a gem shop on the main strip where you can purchase a special rock or gem to take home.
