Tiny village in a beautiful sandy bay just 15 minuts drive from Whitby. It is located at the bottom of a very steep hill but there is pay and display car parking at the bottom. There is a cafe and pub which are open seasonally. Good for swimming if its not too rough.

Beautiful and quaint fishing village, down a steep hill to the old village and seafront which has a tiny sandy beach in the harbour and rocky beaches outside the harbour (covered at high tide) Pay and display parking at the top, no access by car. Lots of nooks and crannies to explore. A popular location for artists with a couple of galleries, a quirky museum, cafes and several pubs.

Also in the village cafes and gift shops plus some good pubs for eating. Pay and display parking in the village car park. This village was used to film a popular series "Heartbeat" so there is plenty of evidence of this to see. Walk to the "Mallyan Spout" a pretty waterfall or "Beck Hole" which has a tiny pub.

A little oasis of calm in the heart of Whitby, with lovely gardens.
A small but interesting museum with all sorts of displays from fossils to local history. It also houses the Pannett art gallery with many paintings from "The Staiths Group"
There is also a cafe.

Owned by English Heritage. Worth a visit if you are in to history, but it is a bit pricey. Tickets can be booked on line. There is a great cafe nearby that is part of the Youth Hostel, with lovely views.

This is a really interesting church inside, and worth a visit if you get up the 199 steps. They have friendly volounteers in the gift shop. Fantastic views from the churchyard.
