Neighborhoods

Capitol Hill, one of the country’s most popular neighborhoods, is known for its historic buildings on tree-lined streets. Many of the most famous figures in our nation’s history have lived among these streets. This home, 424 7th St SE, was built in 1890 and still retains many of its original features. This area of Capitol Hill takes its name from Eastern Market, a public market just three blocks north of your location on 7th Street SE and has been operating since 1873. This historic farmer’s market is a lively place where you’ll see Hill residents interacting with vendors and browsing the various items on display. It’s open every day of the week, but we recommend checking it out on the weekend when there’s an outdoor market featuring arts, crafts, food, drink, and unique items from around the world. You’ll bump elbows with political figures, young Hill staffers, and tourists alike. (Go early because it gets busy.)
