Food Scene

This place is the best Indian food in Utah, and in my opinion, better than most countries. Only open for dinner, but the Shrimp Tikki Marsala or anything with the tikki masala. The saag shorba soup! And of course, the naan. You can't really go wrong here.

Get there as early as you can because every day, they sell out easily before noon. Toasted coconut doughnuts. Or the pumpkin bread. Yuuuuummmmmm.

Really great place if you like rootbeer floats, rosemary french fries, and hamburgers. I love the wedge salad. Be prepared for a wait around lunch and dinner. Ask to sit in the trolley if the wait isn't too long.

Excellent ambience. Good food. It is worth the 15 minute drive up the canyon. It's like you are in a wonderful new world. Usually 15 degrees cooler than downtown Provo in the summer. The drive is gorgeous. Walking around the ski resort in the summer is such a nice getaway.

This is regularly listed as one of the top ten best restaurants in the state. Last time I went there, I was seated on a couch next to Robert Redford.

Sightseeing

This is the largest letter painted on any mountain. It is a difficult hike. Try hiking an hour before sunrise, or an hour before sunset to get a great view.

Some summer nights (especially Fridays and Saturdays), they allow the public to go on the roof and gaze at the stars through the huge telescope. During most days the building is open and you and the kids can play with dozens of science experiments. There is a beautiful display of rock formations. Everything is free. Most people in the community don't know about this.

This is one of the oldest buildings in Provo. It burned almost all the way down during a tragic fire, but it has been restored. Un-endowed people cannot enter the temple, but the grounds are worth walking around, and it is across from the city courthouse which is also nice for photos.

Parks & Nature

You can see waterfalls, rock climbing, and mountain goats. It is peaceful and is usually partially shaded. It's a great place to go even during hot days.

Provo Parks and Recreation takes excellent care of their parks. This is a little drive up the canyon passing Bridal Veil Falls. I usually make the turn off to Vivian Falls, but don't stop at that park, keep going up that mini-canyon to the next park. It has a beautiful stream that kids can wade through. But the prettiest park is the third park up that canyon.

This little grocery store is closest to my house, but is a little pricey. But you should visit it for the best ice cream in the state. You can also order a meal here too. It does get busy at night.
