This is (in our view) one of the best restaurants on the Island; it never disappoints and is only a five minute walk away. It prides itself on using great local produce and the weird and wonderful ice-creams and sorbets (in flavours you’d never imagine) are a unique experience.

This is a great local fish ‘n’ chip shop, but if you’re going on a Friday, prepare for a queue. Nice to grab some fish ‘n’ chips and go eat them on the beach.

Lovely restaurant right under the Castle; had some great meals here. After the meal, you can walk practically all the way back along the beach or, at high tide, along the pedestrian gardens next to the sea

Does a cracking cooked breakfast, with lots of variations (Scottish is our favourite, with haggis); great value and lovely people. 5 minute walk away

We love coming here for cooked breakfasts in the summer. It’s a walk up the hill to the cafe, but the views of the castle and the sea are stunning. You eat outside in the field on picnic tables, but quality is great and the walk back down the harbour a great way to burn off a sausage.

We like to go here for lunch - very close by and the food is ‘beautiful and delicious’. Quite quirky in terms of decor but you can eat outside; they have special areas for families with autism

Great Portuguese food and friendly service; if you like an espatada, this is definitely the place to go. Located in the harbour under the castle.

Beautiful food, probably at the higher end in terms of cost, but impeccable service. Looks over the sea (if you get a window seat!) https://sumasrestaurant.com/

A lot of castles are just walls - this castle has lots more to it - costumes, artwork and the famous ‘wheel of urine’ (well … famous with our kids …).

This is a super place for a visit - there are German underground bunkers, a medieval chapel, a reproduced Neolithic longhouse and one of the ten oldest buildings in the world - the chambered tomb. There is great museum describing how the 'Celtic Hoard' was discovered. Very nice cafe too! You can catch the 13 bus from Gorey Harbour
