Enjoy climbing in Aegean places. The climbing area Lamda is 600-800m from the house. Climbing areas in Kalymnos are a few with different degrees of difficulty, which allow climbers trained or experienced to feel safe and enjoy.

My favorite places for swimming and food/drink
Visiting places, sights, churches or villages you have the opportunity to see the island and understand better the people. Because it is summer time, I tried to combine visiting with food, coffee and of course swimming.
Note: There are numbers in each place. Places with the same number declared that one place is near the other or in the same direction. Places with the same number but different letter A or B mean it is better to choose one place for the same day.
1. Arginonta, is a place with a very few houses. Enjoy swimming and coffee in such a quiet place. Let the roar of the sea take your thoughts away and reminds you that you are in vacations.

1. Β. Emporios is the last village and land in Kalymnos. The next rock belongs to Leros area (other island). Emporios is surrounded by a lot of rocky islets that’s why the sea is calm the most of the time. Because of that, Emporios had chosen many many years ago to be a trade port.
The place combines swimming and food in beautiful taverns located by the sea. Traditional comfort food is served there.

1. Β. Emporios is the last village and land in Kalymnos. The next rock belongs to Leros area (other island). Emporios is surrounded by a lot of rocky islets that’s why the sea is calm the most of the time. Because of that, Emporios had chosen many many years ago to be a trade port.
The place combines swimming and food in beautiful taverns located by the sea. Traditional comfort food is served there.
2. Α. Mirties is close to masouri, you can reach it easily by foot (12 min walking). Look at the foto of Mirties. Can you see the small pier on the sea? There is the point to go if you want to go to Telendos island. Small boats do the itinerary very often. Visit Telendos for swimming and food.

2. Β. Melitsahas is very close to Mirties. To reach Melitsahas, leave Mirties behind you and Just follow the road signs. You can see Melitsahas beach in foto. I m sure you will like it. And if you ll be hungry or thirsty, there is a restaurant-bar on the beach with delicious food and low prices.

If you like waves, that is your beach. If you don’t, I suggest you to visit the place from afternoon to night. Enjoy your coffee, or drink in a place with wonderful sea view.

1. Α. Vathi is the place that oranges and tangerines are grown. It’ s worth visiting because of the interesting narrow and long bay. Enjoy swimming or have a drink or coffee. I suggest you to go to vathi from the road which connect Arginonta to Vathi, but return from the road which drive you to Pothia, so you would see very different views.

Half a km before you reach Xora, as you drive uphill, look on your right and you ll see ruins of a church (it is the church of the foto). Stop for some minutes to see the ruins of a thre-aisled early Christian basilica dedicated to Jesus Christ. It was built by Saint Eleni or Arkadios in the 5th century A.D. on their return from Jerusalem. The materials from which the temple was built belonged to the Ionian style temple of Delios Apollon which pre-existed in the area and was a political and religious center of that time.

3. Saint Savvas was born, live and died in Kalymnos (1862-1948). If you like to visit the monastery please dress properly. About 20 nunns live in the monastery. You may see the relics of the saint. The view is fantastic.

Don’t drink the water
Don’t drink the water and don’t use it to make food. There is no reason to worry. The water has bad taste, but is not dangerous for health.
Use tap water to clean, wash or brush your teeth. For food or drink it is better to buy bottled water. There is a more economical solution. There is a container in the house. Fill it from the machine located on the main road (100 meters away from the house).
