A nice hike up over a ridge along the southern city limits of Nanaimo. The Abyss is a large crevice in the ground that is a neat landmark, and if you continue along the trail you will see some nice views of the harbour to the left, and Nanaimo’s popular mountain biking and hiking areas to the right.

A beautiful paved walking trail follows along Nanaimo’s harbour, with views of Gabriola and Protection Island. There are often events going on at this park, occasionally you will see some live music, food trucks, dancing..it’s a hub for locals!

Maffeo Sutton Park
100 Comox RoadA beautiful paved walking trail follows along Nanaimo’s harbour, with views of Gabriola and Protection Island. There are often events going on at this park, occasionally you will see some live music, food trucks, dancing..it’s a hub for locals!
A short walk around the marsh offers some beautiful scenery, and you’re bound to see some birds! No dogs allowed.

Mount Benson is a beast! For the avid hikers, this mountain journey takes approximately 3 hours up and down. Of course you’ll reap the benefits from the viewpoints along the way and the top (if it’s not cloudy!)

Just minutes from the suite, this park can be a short walk around the two connected dams, or you can branch off the trails and enjoy a longer hike through the woods - see if you can find the waterfall! You might have to ask a fellow hiker :)
