They have all kinds of activities, a rec center with pool table, ping pong, darts, pickleball, tennis and basketball courts. Paddles/balls/keys available at the guard shack for a small deposit. Amazing place...Limited parking. Here are the rules and regs of the park.

Henry Flagler's railroad to Key West turned the remote island of Bahia Honda Key into a toprical destination. Today, the island is home to one Florida's southermost state parks, known for beautiful beaches, magnificent sunsets and excellent snorkeling. Visitors can picnic on the beach and take a swim or relax and enjoy the balmy breezes that caress the shores year round. Anglers can fish from shore or brin ga boat and launch at the boat ramp Kayaks and snorkeling gear can be rented. Boat trips to the reef or a snorkeling excursion are available. Bahia Honda is an excellent place to see wading birds and shorebirds. The nature center introduces nature lovers to the island's plants and animals.

The refuge is located in the lower FLorida Keys and currently consists of appx 9200 acres of land that includes pine rock land forests, tropical hardwood hammocks, fresh water wetlands, salt marsh wetlands, and mangrove forests. These natural communities are critical habitat for hundreds of endemic and migratory species including 17 federally listed species such as Key deer and Lower Keys Marsh rabbit. Don't forget to Visit the Natl Key Deer Headquarters to meet the rangers. In the close neighborhoods you can routinely see the deer in people's yards and on the streets so drive slow. Stop and have lunch or dinner at the No Name Pub. Pizza is very good!
