All the Venetian islands are worth visiting, but Torcello with its superb Byzantine church is especially delightful. Inside the church, the mosaics of the Last Judgement and the golden Madonna are exceptional. Getting there is a fun journey.

It’s dusty, badly lit, and neglected, but visiting this momentous collection of Venetian art is a stirring experience. Worth going just for Veronese’s gigantic Feast in the House of Levi.

Just a couple of minutes away from the apartment on via Garibaldi, this is our go-to local place. The food is decent, but the singing is exceptional! Owner Lucio does a nightly serenade of classic Venetian songs.
