If you want to see Old Dubai and get a feel for the original heart of the city, roam through souqs (traditional markets) selling spices, fabric, gold and diamond Jewellery- you must not forget to hop onto the boats along the Dubai creek. You’ll find various Abra stations where board cross the creek. This is the cheapest boat ride you’ll have at Aed1 per crossing. You can also ask the staff of the boat to arrange a private hire of the boat for a trip down the creek.

Entertainment for the family

A few recommended places where both children and grown ups can be entertained
A hidden gem…. Great place for grown ups and kids alike. It’s a family entertainment destination open from 4pm onwards during winter months. Here you’ll find numerous dining outlets, food stalls, a Thai style floating market with food stalls, ample shopping in a market like setting selling produce from different countries (hence the name Global Village) - from leather jackets to saffron and wooden carvings from Africa to Squid Game costumes and more. During weekends there are stunt shows, various famous international performers to live dancers, and a traditional fun fair and theme park offering rides for all ages. Definitely a family favorite for us with the kids. Do wear comfy shoes as the place is huge, and do carry a light weight cardigan as it can get windy as you’re in the desert.

Relaxing place - you can spend ages just watching the fish glide past each other and see the beautiful sharks and stingrays up close. The kids will definitely enjoy the experience including seeing the crocodile and penguins in the upper areas.

Food scene

Probably the best burgers in town … not to mention their ice cream. If you love a good simple burger then this is definitely worth a try! There is a good truck outside marina mall on the waterfront or the restaurant inside the mall.

Consejos para la ciudad

Costumbres y cultura

Ladies dress code

Be sensible - don’t walk around in swim wear, transparent clothing or scandalous attire. You are in an Islamic country and should be mindful of the locals and culture. Whilst Dubai is relaxed and relatively free and open, it’s best not to attract unwanted trouble as the laws are strict and decency laws tough; that’s not to say you can’t wear shorts and dresses - you can - but if you’re visiting non touristy areas or cultural area then do consider what’s appropriate and what’s not.
Formas de ahorrar

Check online deals

Use Groupon.ae, cobonne.ae, the entertainer app … there are lots of options to help you save money on excursions and meals etc.

Consumption of alcohol

Alcohol consumption in public areas is not permitted and can only be purchased from licensed restaurants and bars - mostly within hotels. There are serious fines for drunken and disorderly behavior associated with consumption of alcohol.

Swearing and bad language

Swearing, derogatory gestures and bad language can land you in jail or fined and result with deportation. But that’s what makes this city such a great place that no one swears at each other, resulting with a tourist friendly environment being created.
