The Oaklawn Farm Zoo is a hit between Easter and late November. Lions and tiger and bears oh my! And of course a few farm favorites, the reptile loft, and an ice cream to top it off.

This one is fun for the kids and adults! An old homestead, still operating - a farm and museum all in one. Visit an old school house, watch them make barrels, mow with a scythe, work the fields with an ox team, and shoe horses at the blacksmith shop. You move thorough the place (its big) at your own pace, with helpful staff in period costume happy to talk about the ways things used to be. There are trails on the property and they are open year round (cider and a sleigh ride?)

Sightseeing

Big airplanes outside, cool exhibits inside. All at an operating military base. If your timing is right, the F18s will be landing or taking off right over your head.

The Bay of Fundy has the world's highest tides. Come see the boats sitting on the ocean floor at low tide, or (when the water come back) grab some fresh lobster straight from the fishermen. If you happen to pass through on a Saturday check out the local craft market at the church at the top of the hill.,

An old school drive in theater, complete with a snack kiosk and the big screen. Open weekends, it runs two movies in a night.

City/town information

A historic site in NS, and a great little town. Only 40 minutes away. See the sights, admire the views, and grab some grub at one of the many restaurants, or (for the sweet tooth) something at the local bakery.

You can't say you've seen the Annapolis Valley without visiting the apple capital of the province. There is a tiny town museum, a couple of great locally run restaurants, and a main street that screams small town Nova Scotia. From Spring to Fall, be sure to watch the road sides for unmanned pop-up produce stands from local gardens - drop your money in the box, and take your wares.

40 minutes away, Wolfville is largely a university town that boasts a slew of places to eat (from top notch to run down and full of character). Check out the trails and parks, take a drive to the look off, or visit Grand Pre National Historic Site. If that's not enough for you, there is almost always something happening (live music, concerts, shows) at a local venue.

Our sleepy town of Morden is a great place to explore. Watch the tides rise and fall over the old pilings of the fishing weirs and wharf, wander the shores on a falling tide to find hidden waterfalls, visit the historic French Cross (a must at sunset), take the kids to the natural playground across from the hall. From Spring to Fall, the community hosts a big breakfast (the BEST fish cakes and all the staples). TJ sets up his food truck outside the hall on Friday evenings.
