This American eatery is known for its big breakfasts featuring fluffy Macadamia Pancakes, omelets and fried rice court. This eatery, with stunning views, has a loyal following & the line can be daunting (especially on weekends) but service is "efficient" and since prices are so "reasonable" most swear any wait is worth it for sure! Located in Kahana, about a 10 minute drive north of the resort. Regarded as one of the best sushi spots in Hawaii, and was featured on one of Guy Fieri's Diner’s, Drive-ins and Dives food shows a few years back. The place is really tiny, only about five tables with a small sushi bar, so get there early. The staff is incredibly welcoming and fun and the atmosphere is casual and relaxed. The sushi is fresh and flavorful (they have their own fishing boat which provides most of their daily specials) and is reasonably priced. Go for lunch and save 15% when paying cash. They don't serve alcohol so it's BYOB. They charge a corkage fee but will offer you glassware. You can pick up sake, beer or your favorite adult beverage at the liquor store in the same strip mall before heading in to eat.

If you are staying at one of our Paki Maui units, the sand in front of the resort can vary based on the tide, however, the park right next door has sandy conditions all day long. It’s a great place to have morning coffee or lunch (a coffee shop and Farmer’s market are right across the street) and since the beach has gentle slopes, it’s a great place for kids to play. There are also public restrooms and swing-sets in the park.

The "Road to Hana" on Hana Highway is a 64.4 mile long stretch of Hawaii Routes 36 and 360 connecting Kahului to the town of Hana in east Maui. The road has 620 curves and 59 bridges, and leads you through flourishing rainforests, flowing waterfalls, plunging pools and dramatic seascapes. There are plenty of opportunities to stop and enjoy the lovely views, so get an early start and take your time on your drive. While it’s all about the journey, once you reach the beautiful and quiet town of Hana, you’ll see why it’s worth the trip. Plan on the 10-12 hours for the trip to Hana and back, depending on how many stops you make for checking out the views, bathroom breaks and lunch. Some of our favorite stops: - The funky/bohemian town of Paia - Ho’okipa lookout (giant wave surf spot) at Mile Marker 9 - Wainapanapa State Park at Mile Marker 32. This is a gorgeous Jurassic Park-like setting with sea caves & famous black sand beach.🚨(Be sure to make reservations online before your visit.) For the tech savvy traveler we highly recommend using the Shaka Guide GPS Audio Tour app. As one reviewer notes, "Using Shaka let us prioritize the sights we wanted to see, skip the ones that were less important to us or would be more time consuming, and find the often shrouded entrances and parking areas necessary to actually see and enjoy various waterfalls, natural pools, caves and arboretums. PLUS we learned so much about Hawaii, its history & traditions." If your car rental has a CD player, CDs are available from Amazon, or at ABC or Times supermarket stores down or across the street from the condo. You can also sign up for a van tour if you prefer not to drive it on your own.

Ka'anapali Beach Trail begins at Duke's Beachhouse Restaurant at the Honua Kai Resort, and heads South, ending at Hanakao'o Beach Park. You'll pass Ka'anapali's finest resorts such as the Mahana, Honua Kai Resort, the Westin, Maui Ka'anapali Villas, and the Whaler. The best time to experience the Ka'anapali Trail is during sunset or in the early morning when the sun isn't as strong. The Ka'anapali Trail is the perfect option for families with young children, parents with strollers and those looking to take a jog sans-sand. This paved 4.4 mile out-and-back trail has relatively little elevation gain (just under 500 ft) and follows the coast, offering beautiful ocean views. You can take a break from the trail any time you'd like to stop off for a drink or meal at the various establishments lining the trail.

A very pretty trail with gorgeous valley and forest views. It's 2.5 miles to the end (5 miles round trip) and you'll gain about 1500 feet. From Kahalui, get on Hwy 340 heading north. At .9 miles past mile market 6, you'll see the road to Maluhia Boy Scout Camp. Another .9 miles up the road (past the gate), is the trailhead. At the end of the trail is a small deck with a picnic table, with magnificent views. Best to start the hike early to avoid the clouds which diminish the views.

This is a beach near a large black lava rock which is famous for cliff diving. The best snorkeling is right out in front of the Sheraton. Weaker swimmers should beware that the water becomes deep quickly, and strong currents can occur in this location. There is limited beach access parking in Ka’anapali, but there are a few spots under the Sheraton Hotel parking structure, in between Whalers Village and the Westin Hotel, and between the Ka’anaplai Ali’i and the Marriott. You can also park in the Whalers Village parking which is paid parking. but if you buy some snacks at the ABC Store or choose to have some beverages at one of the restaurants, you can get 4 hour validated parking.

The prime attraction of the Nakalele Point is, of course, the blowhole. A blowhole’s effect is much like that of a geyser: a hole in the ground with a jet of water shooting periodically into the air. This blowhole is large enough to accommodate a manhole cover and is powerful enough to easily blast it high in the air – especially during high surf and tides. (tide forecast) Some jets can approach 50+ feet and if you’re close enough you can feel the ground tremble beneath your feet as water is blasted skywards. About a 1.25mile round trip hike from your parked car. Wear sensible shoes as the trail is multilevel with some jagged rocks. You can view the blowhole from afar, but if you want to get close you’ll have to hike it. Great place for amazing photos. We like to hit the Gazebo restaurant in Napili Bay very early in the day, then head to the blowhole trail to walk off the macadamia pancakes. :-) Please, be careful & heed all posted safety warnings.

Honolua Bay is a beautiful hidden bay, beach, forest, park, and snorkel area in the northwest corner of the west side of Maui. It’s on Honoapiilani Highway (Highway 30), a couple of miles north of Kapalua, immediately north of Slaughterhouse Beach, and immediately south of Lipoa Point. It’s between Mile Markers 32 and 33. Honolua Bay has a beach that is composed of smooth large stones (not much sand). Maui snorkeling cruises often park in the bay so their riders can enjoy the excellent snorkeling there. One of the things that makes snorkeling so good here is that the bay is a Marine Life Conservation District with no fishing allowed, so there is plenty of fish to see here. There are also high cliffs on both sides of the bay, creating sheltered water that is usually calm.
