Renowned for the huge number of famous people who have enjoyed its genteel setting, The Orchard is the place to relax and soak up the atmosphere of a bygone era. Sitting under its trees, or sheltering in the warmth of its historic Pavilion, you are sharing in the great English tradition of morning coffee or afternoon tea, and following in the footsteps of generations of Cambridge students at a place which remains ‘forever England’[1]. And to the question, immortalised in Rupert Brooke’s poem The Old Vicarage, Grantchester: “And is there honey still for tea?” The answer is yes, served with our Afternoon Teas and, of course, our remarkable homemade scones served with cream and jam (or jam and cream if you prefer), When you are with us, please take your time. Enjoy the genteel setting, delight in your own thoughts, marvel at nature and, if you are with friends, enjoy their company for you are in a place which, thanks to the benefaction of Mr. Robin Callan, will, in the words of Rupert Brooke, remain ‘forever England’.
