Goolwa Beach is a great surf beach for all levels from beginners looking for a shore break and white water to learn or the more experienced board rider who will paddle out back of the break to catch the bigger sets.
If you have a 4WD you can drive down onto the beach and head towards the mouth of the Murray River.
The local surf club and adjacent cafe offer meals and refreshments.

Arguably the most reliable surfing beach in South Australia offering surfers of all skill levels easy access to the surf most suited to their capabilities.
The Goolwa Bowling Club is just 50 metres West of the Kombi Cottage, so if this is your caper, you'll enjoy the location. Just beyond the bowling club by another 50 metres or so, is the town football oval, a great place for a run, or for the kids to kick the footy etc.

Waves at Boomer can be very powerful result in injury to anyone not used to strong beach breaks owing to the beach sand bottom racing towards your face if you judge a wave wrong. For the competent body surfer this is a really fun place to get a workout body surfing.

If you are a pastry lover, you'll have to drop in to buy the Donut of the Month. Every Month there is a new donut which creates havoc with queues sometimes hundreds of metres long.
Sensational body surfing beach, just love the Flying Fish Cafe and Restaurant.
Evening time head to the Hotel Elliot for great food and bev.

Hey, did i say the Langhorne Creek Hotel is a great feed too.
Middleton is just 10-15 minute drive away. Well there is way too many to list or guess the number of here. Take the drive, plan the day to suit your individual or group needs.
A lovely historic township that can be enjoyed by walking around taking in the very best of cafes, fashion, ocean views, beaches, not to mention the famous bakery and everything from pub grub to quality restaurants.

Goolwa Wharf Market - Just a stroll. It's a Ripper.
The Goolwa Wharf Market is held on the 1st & 3rd Sunday every month.
Stalls offer bric-a-brac, collectables, plants, books, hand crafted goods from woodwork and steel/metals, small items of furniture, fabric and knitted items, clothing, hats, fishing gear, sunglasses and jewellery. Fresh organic produce is very popular, with growers bringing their goods along; so too are the pickles, jams, cakes and pastries. The sausage rolls are great, grab a coffee and enjoy wandering this terrific market.

Walking Shoes
The walks from the Kombi Cottage along the river are to be enjoyed regardless of which direction you go. In fact the relatively flat environment means walking around Goolwa is absolutely the best way to go. Park the car at the Kombi Cottage on arrival and don't use it again until to leave. Everything you need is within a short walk.

If you like to get wet, Goolwa has it all. A terrific surf beach is just a short drive from Kombi Cottage , or the river wharf is within 200 metres.
Whether is be a boogie or surfboard for the beach or a kayak, yacht, boat or jet-ski for the river, you'll be able to get these wet at Goolwa.

Travellers will be delighted to know that the supermarkets operate extended hours from and are within 500 metres walk of the Kombi Cottage.
Typical supermarket open hours are 7am to 9pm daily
