3197 Route 44 55A must for any hiker. Loads of beautiful trails with impressive vistas of the Wallkill Valley (it used to be considered the bread basket for New York City) and of the Shawangunk Mountains, a mecca for rock climbers from around the world.
You walk along the edge of pastures so that you have a constant view of the Gunks—no trees to obscure anything. It helps to put our lives in perspective--people become little specks in the distance. You can almost imagine yourself in England on the moors.
