Jannei Goat Dairy was first established in 1995. Janette and Neil started with the production of raw goats milk for sale to the Sydney market under the NSW Quality Goats Milk Scheme. Over the years we have grown our product range to a selection of over eleven artisan goat cheeses. Jannei has always sought to provide its customers with a quality sustainable product which is evident in the amount of awards it has won over the years, amounting to more than 30 gold awards since 1998 and numerous silver awards in specialist cheese shows across Australia. Three times we have been the most successful exhibitor in the goats milk class at the Sydney Royal Show. In 2004 our Bent Back Chèvre won champion cheese at the Australian Specialty Cheese Show and 2008 saw us win champion non-bovine at the Grand Dairy Awards with the Bûche Noir making this cheese the overall Australian champion in the Non Bovine cheese section. Donkey Mountain Donkey Mountain is a fascinating lone mountain (350m from the base) sprouting out from the middle of the Wolgan Valley, thirty minutes along Wolgan Road from Lidsdale. There were plenty of wombats, kangaroos, and even elusive foxes to be seen on the way. The best way up is marked as the ‘Grand Entrance’ but without checking properly we headed straight for Donkey Mountain from the carpark via what looked like the most direct route up. A slow incline quickly turned into a 45° trek up the mountainside with the last 50m ascent basically a vertical scramble.
