One of the biggest reasons many people come to Merced. Filled with mind-blowing scenery and various wildlife, it is a sanctuary for hikers and outdoor enthusiasts. You MUST have a reservation (thanks covid-19). Entrance fees vary:
Individual (on foot, horseback, or bus) - $15
Motorcycle - $30
Automobile - $35
Yosemite 1 year pass (automobile) - $70
All National Parks & Federal Lands Pass for 1 year - $80
Senior lifetime access (62 yrs and up) -$80

Great refuge for bird and wildlife watching. Between October - March, there are thousands of birds (geese, ducks, raptors, etc.) that are around the wetlands. There is a one lane autoroad that makes it easier to get around. Cameras and binoculars are encouraged.
