Neighbourhoods

St. Agnes is a thriving village situated in a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and in the Cornish Mining World Heritage Site. It offers access to lovely beaches and amazing coastal walks along the South West Coast Path. The village itself boasts local shops including a butchers, green grocers, bakeries, two small supermarkets, a pharmacy, galleries, hairdressers and a beauty salon. There is a wide range of restaurants, coffee shops and pubs, not forgetting a pizza take away and a fish and chip shop. Wandering around the village and surrounding area is always fun and is steeped in its mining heritage. You will see old cottages, engine houses and shafts and it is worth walking along the coast path to see the remains of Wheal Coates which you may recognise from television programmes and epitomises the days of tin mining. At one time there were 100 mines in the area and some were still working until the 20th century. Today only Blue Hills Mine remains in production. If you have time, a visit to the St Agnes Museum is interesting.

Trevaunance cove is our local beach. It is a 10 mintier walk downhill on Quay road, Accessed by a step slipway down to the sand. This stunning beach is surrounded by towering cliffs. In the winter there is surf and in the summer it is very family friendly, with rock pools, caves, lifeguarded. There are public toilets at the top of the slipway and several cafes at beach level. It is serviced by a council run car park on the right before you reach the junction. A small community owned car park nearer the beach - honesty box out of season manned in high season. But be warned this car park is tricky to negotiate in a large vehicle when busy. The driftwood spars pub also has a car park but requires ticket the cost of which can be reclaimed if you later eat there and ask. Dog friendly year round. Lifeboat station - launches are exciting to watch!
