Chatsworth House is a stately home in Derbyshire, England, in the Derbyshire Dales 3.5 miles north-east of Bakewell. The seat of the Duke of Devonshire, it has been home to the Cavendish family since 1549. Standing on the east bank of the River Derwent, it looks across to the low hills between the Derwent and Wye valleys. The house is set in expansive parkland and backed by wooded, rocky hills rising to heather moorland. It contains major collections of paintings, furniture, Old Master drawings, neoclassical sculptures, books and other artefacts. Chatsworth has been chosen as Britain's favourite country house several times. Chatsworth is open for visitors presently on a prebooked basis. Prebooking can be online the day before. It will also be showing off it's Christmas tours from 13th November until 2nd January 2020.

Birchover is our home village and has many, many walks straight from the front door. One of our favourites is Rowter Rocks which is an outcrop just a few minutes walk away with Druid caves, thrones and sacrificial stone plinths. A must for anyone with an interest in any historical places.
