Enjoy a coffee or lunch at the restaurant just up from the parking and enjoy the surrounding cliffs and waterfalls. We highly recommend you take the walking path around the Cirque, taking any amount of time between 2 and 5 hours depending on how long you spend taking photos and gawping at the views and waterfalls! Other hikes are possible from the Cirque for the more adventurous.

Also officially recognised as one of the 'most beautiful villages in France', the village is based around a beautiful former 12th-century Abbey with the glacial river Giffre splitting the village in two.

Morillon is just 5 minutes drive from Samoens. It's also possible to walk along the river from Samoens in around an hour - a lovely picturesque walk or cycle off-road. Snow shoe track in the winter. You'll come out at Lac Bleu. Various summer activities available at or nearby the lake - a life guarded sandy beach for swimming, horse and pony rides for all ages, adventure parks, giant inflatables, tennis, volleyball, as well as rafting down the river and mini-golf just a few metres down the road from the lake.
In the winter there's cross country skiing (between Samoens and Morillon), sledging and pony rides.

City/town information
Beautiful Annecy, situated on the edge of Annecy Lake. A must visit, especially a walk through the old town. Many little villages situated around the lake worth visiting too, for example Talloires. There's a cycle lane all around the lake which is worth doing and good for cyclists of all levels.

Refuge de Sales is located just before the chalets. Park at Le Lignon (or Cascade de Rouget for a longer walk). The trail from Le Lignon winds through a narrow valley littered with numerous highly impressive waterfalls. It is common to see all kinds of wildlife in this area including chamois, marmottes, bouquetin (ibex), and bearded vultures. The walk ends at the refuge where refreshments (and beds if required!) are available during the summer months.

Refuge de Sales is located just before the chalets. Park at Le Lignon (or Cascade de Rouget for a longer walk). The trail from Le Lignon winds through a narrow valley littered with numerous highly impressive waterfalls. It is common to see all kinds of wildlife in this area including chamois, marmottes, bouquetin (ibex), and bearded vultures. The walk ends at the refuge where refreshments (and beds if required!) are available during the summer months.
