Piedmont is recognized as the truffle/tartufo region par excellence and there are several dishes and events which celebrate this special "tuber".
The Piedmontese cuisine is famous for its appetizers, both hot and cold, including the peppers and stuffed onions, croutons with truffles, salads and the “salumi” (salsiccia di Bra), vitello
tonnato, insalata russa and stuffed eggs and many more!
Among the famous first courses there are: agnolotti del plin , with roast or truffle sauce; gnocchi and risottos. Also the Tajarin are very typical, an egg homemade pasta type normally enriched with truffles or with sage and butter sauce.
Moreover, there are also delicious main courses based on meat, such as the famous Brasato al barolo and the Bollito misto alla Piemontese. Among the dishes based on white meat, chicken alla babi (grilled) and marengo.
For desserts it worths to mention: the marrons glacés; the
bônet (a delicious chocolate pudding); hazelnut and chocolate/truffles; the chocolate bon-bon cuneesi (with rum); the marron compote and several biscuits like Baci di dama, Paste di Meliga and Krumiri.

Piedmont counts on more than 50,000 hectares of vineyards and more than 3 million hectoliters of wine products.
Langhe, Monferrato and Roero are three areas where for centuries men enriched the territory with vineyards, hazelnut groves and orchards, creating a masterpiece of peasant civilization, protected by Unesco.
The vines grown in Piedmont are mostly in black berry, such as Nebbiolo, Barbera, Dolcetto, Croatina, Freisa, Bonarda, Grignolino, Brachetto, Malvasia in black berry, Casorzo and Schierano . Among the vines in white grape we mention Cortese, Erbaluce and White Muscat.
The area of production of Barolo is characterized by five famous locations: Barolo , Castiglione Falletto , La Morra , Serralunga d’Alba and Monforte d’Alba.
The Barbaresco was for years considered the “little brother” of Barolo. It is an extraordinary wine from grapes of Nebbiolo , which owes its name to the city where it is produced, not far from Barolo .
In the village of Rocchetta Tanaro (5 min), you can find “Post dal vin”. Here you can buy good wine at a good price. Enjoy a nice local wine degustation!

There are several attractions and highlights in the surroundings. You can enjoy the local character of Monferrato, but also organize day excursions of 1-2 hours to reach incredible places which represent the amazing landscape/cultural diversity of Italy.

For the visitors there are marked walking trails, bicycle paths, equestrian paths, paths for the blind, area equipped for the physically disabled and picnic areas.
