For CS Lewis fans this is a must-see. Lewis lived in the cottage here with his brother, which you can still see. The reserve is said to have inspired the "wood between the worlds"- the gateway to Narnia - in his book The Magician's Nephew.

This whole area is in the greenbelt and is stuffed with nature treats such as the archaeologist's Arthur Evans' garden and the poet's Elizabeth Daryush's garden as well as Jarn Mound. All are open to the public.

We live on the south side of Boars Hill. From here there are dozens of footpaths to wander in to the countryside. There are pubs to stop at for drinks and food. You can walk in to Oxford from here and explore the town.
