OUR FAVOURITE HIKES SHORT HIKES: Old Fort Point: Moderate – 3.8 km. loop 1-2 hrs. From Highway 93A North, follow the Old Fort Point access road. Cross bridge and park in lot on the right. You can go up the stairs and hike up the face. We prefer going on the marked trail and skirting up the back to the top. Beautiful views. Five minute drive from Jasper. Valley of Five Lakes: Moderate – 4.5 km. loop 2 hrs. 9 kms. South on Highway 93. Five beautiful small lakes. Cavell Angel Glacier: Moderate – 1.4 kms. Return 1 hr. Drive south on Highway 93 and just past the park gate turn onto Cavell Road. Follow to parking lot. About 1/2 hr. drive from Jasper. Beautiful view of Angel Glacier. Maligne Canyon Hike: Moderate - Sixth Bridge to Maligne Canyon – 2 hrs. Drive east until you see the bridge, about 2 miles). Turn left after the bridge. Follow Maligne Road until you see a sign saying 6th Bridge. Turn left and wind down a road a few kms. to parking lot. Cross bridge and take trail at right. Follow up the river to the canyon and tea house. If you want to make a shorter hike start at 5th bridge. Look for sign along Maligne Road turning left. About 10 – 15 minute drive from Jasper. Flower Trail Hike: Easy – 1/2 hr. hike. Beautiful flowers early summer. Sixth Bridge to Maligne Canyon- moderate – 2 hrs. Drive east until you see the bridge, about 2 miles). Turn left after the bridge. Follow Maligne Road until you see a sign saying 6th Bridge. Turn left and wind down a road a few kms. To parking lot. Cross bridge and take trail left. Maligne Lake Area Short Hikes: Easy – Moose Lake Loop, Mary Schaefer Loop, Lorraine Lake and Mona Lake WHEEL CHAIR/PAVED WALK • Town trail along Connaught Drive • Lake Annette Loop There are trail systems bordering the townsite. There is a town trail and a huge trail system on the “bench” expanding from Jasper to Patricia Lake, Pyramid Lake and beyond. We would be happy to recommend hikes in those areas. DAY HIKES: Cavell Meadows: Moderate - 6-7 kms. Return 3-5 hrs. Drive south on Highway 93 and just past the park gate turn onto Cavell Road. Follow to parking lot. About 1/2 hr. drive from Jasper. Beautiful hike to meadows and view of Angel Glacier. Sulpher Skyline: Difficult – 8 kms. Return 4 – 6 hrs. Trailhead at Miette Hot Springs parking lot. Go early as there is a tendency for thunder storms in the afternoon. The view from the top is spectacular. You feel like you are on top of the world. Take a lunch if you like or have a snack at the café and soak in the hot spring when you come down. Wilcox Pass: Moderate. 4 kms. Return to viewpoint, 8 kms. Return to the pass. This is a beautiful hike where you see the mountains up close and personal. Trailhead just beyond Icefield Centre on Highway 93 about 1 hr. 15 mins. From Jasper. Parker Ridge: Moderate. 5.4 Km. return. 3 hrs. Trailhead 9 Km. south of Icefield Centre. After a series of switchbacks you will be rewarded with dramatic views of the Saskatchewan Glacier. If you feel ambitious cross the river and go over the rocks a few more kms. See a beautiful view of the Brazeau Valley. Whistlers Mountain: Take the tram. From there hike to Summit – moderate hike about 1 km. Can grunt it up from bottom but there are nicer hikes (in our opinion). Maligne Lake Area Hikes: About one hr. drive Maligne Lake Road 1. Opal Hills – Difficult. 8.2 Km. loop. Steep trail with reward seeing meadow and mountain vistas. Check for closure as this is often closed due to grizzly bears. 2. Bald Hills – Difficult. 10.4 Km. return. Bird’s eye view of Maligne Lake. Travels along fire road to alpine meadow. 3. Easy Hikes: Moose Lake Loop, Mary Schaffer Loop, Lorraine Lake and Mona Lake
