Family Favorites
The Phoenix Zoo has been a favorite of ours for years. We have been members since our first child was just a baby. There is never a bad time to go during the year but there are better times during the day in each season.
When visiting during the spring and fall months, go early to avoid the crowds if you are going on a weekend. When visiting during the summer, go early to avoid the heat. (Although, if you are going with small kiddos the zoo has a couple of splash pads for the kids to cool off in.)
The "winter" months are typically a little slower but can get busy on the weekends. They also have the "Zoo Lights" during the holiday season. You can grab a glass of wine or hot chocolate and wander through the light exhibits at night.
Dining at the zoo has gotten better over the years. For a family of four it can be a little pricey and they have limited healthy options. They do however let you bring in your own food if you have any dietary restrictions.
Overall it is a great way to spend a beautiful afternoon. We recommend checking out their website to see if they have any special attractions happening during your stay.

LEGOLAND Discovery Center Arizona
5000 S Arizona Mills CirIf you are looking for a great way to escape the heat, the Legoland Discovery Center at the Arizona Mills Mall is always a hit. (You can combine it with a visit to the Sealife Aquarium for a reduced ticket price on both.)
The center has an indoor play structure, a few actual rides and tons of activities for the whole family. They have a pretty decent snack bar as well.

SEA LIFE Centro Arizona

The Aquarium is great for kids any age. Although small, it has some great activities and interesting exhibits. Our kiddos love the glowing jellyfish.
