De Zeemeeuw in Muiderberg is one of the oldest beach pavilions in the Netherlands. The restaurant, with a beautiful view over the IJsselmeer, has 60 seats inside and considerably more outside.
There's also a small playground next to the terrace - ideal for both parents and kids. ;-)

Amsterdam Castle Muiderslot is over 700 years old and surrounded by water and beautiful historic gardens. It’s one of the oldest and best-preserved castles in the Netherlands and was built in 1285 with a single clear goal in mind: defence. The castle has a long and turbulent history. Wander around, discover how the enemy has been opposed and learn all about life at a castle in former days.
Children’s quest
For children it is extra fun to discover the castle by doing things themselves. Go on a journey of discovery through the castle and gardens and complete the tasks. You determine the order of the route yourself. And of course… you will receive a nice reward afterwards.
Children’s quest ‘Discover and explore:
Suitable for children from 6 to 11 years old and their adult supervisor(s).
Available at the ticket office and in the museum shop for 2 euros (including knight’s medal)
Garden's
As was customary in the seventeenth century, the beautiful historic gardens of Muiderslot are still used for decorative and practical purposes. The covered walk (berceau) divides the grounds into a vegetable garden (Warmoeshof) with forgotten vegetables from earlier times, and a herb garden, with herbs for the kitchen, for medicinal purposes, for making dyes and for decoration. From March to November you will find the garden being tended by volunteers who will be happy to tell you more about the proud history of the gardens and everything growing in them (from Monday to Saturday)
Behind the castle is the the plum orchard. The orchard was a source of inspiration and joy for the writer and poet Pieter Cornelisz Hooft (‘the Dutch Shakespeare’) who lived at the Muiderslot castle in the 17th century.
