"Jao Hostel" is also a cosy bar and small restaurant. Basic western breakfast is available, but Thai lunch dishes are probably better. In the evenings they have good deals on draft beer.

This is a very nice, new and very close restaurant located on the river. Prices are reasonable (especially for a riverside restaurant), nice views and great Thai food, a lot of it spicy!

This is Chiang Mai's biggest market area. Locally called "Kad Luang" (Main Market), it's as much an attraction as a place to shop. It goes on 24/7, see it by day and in the evening hours.
