A trip to Prague is incomplete without a visit to the historic market square in the old town. A cobblestoned square, it traces its history from the 12th century. A vast statue of one of Czech's founding fathers dominates the Square. The ancient town council house houses the ornate clock that not only tells the time but position of the constellations. Surrounding the square are cafes and the streets leading off from it houses various shops selling mementos and the famed Bohemian Crystal. Street performers entertain the crowd of tourists and the Square teems with tourists. A visit to the square by night is a must as the buildings are lit up and look magical.

Very popular with tourists, good views of the city and the huge Vtlava river. This statue lined 14th century bridge is well worth a visit but very busy.There are some good bars and restaurants adjacent to the bridge. And it is easy to walk to from Prague Castle.

We were tired, and hot, so we took a tram up the hill. There are a couple of choices for tram lines, or buses, or other public transport. If you walk up from down below, it's a steep climb. A lot of the grounds can be walked for free, other entries require tickets. We simply walked around the free areas and were simply amazed by the beautiful architecture, the changing of the guards, and the history associated with the place. Don't miss the castle when in Prague!

When entering off a street called Kopernikova, into a wooded area with a small pond and waterfall and then came to an amazing grotto which incorporates classical architecture, and provides winding stone steps and small rooms for fun exploration. Artificial grottoes can also be seen (as part of a massive wall) at Wallenstein Palace Gardens.

Beautiful gardens with an attractive pond full of large fish . Peacocks roam freely and there are owls too. The gardens are free, a little hidden away but well worth it.
