2.8 Miles from the Hudson House, Gore has 108 trails, boasts 2537 vertical feet, and is home to the most skiable acreage in New York. The State of New York allocated funding to improve the state’s ski resorts and Gore is already showing the results. Gore is doing a complete renovation of the Saddle Lodge, adding to the Northwoods Lodge and building a new Summit Warning Lodge. Significant investment went towards upgrading their rental and demo fleets as well. Add new and improved snow making capabilities and the mountain should be a must do for east coast skiing. Other ski areas an easy drive from North Creek. Check into combination ski lift passes for all three resorts The Gore Mountain Ski Bowl also has tubing, special activities and night skiing.

New to North Creek, Revolution Rail is a fun excursion activity that allows riders to ride the railroad tracks under their own power and explore a section of the Adirondaks that has never seen passenger traffic. Railbikers check in at the historic North Creek train station, take a short shuttle ride, and then go on their 6 mile round trip tour. The season booked up quickly – they are starting reservations for next summer in November.

As you go north up Route 28 there are signs on the right for Indian Lake (before the town). There is a sandy beach for chairs, etc. and a dock for swimming out in the lake.

Lake Abanakee Sugar House (21 minutes from Hudson House) P.O. Box 8 Route 28, Indian Lake, NY 12842 For local maple syrup and other unique gifts, this is a must stop. We happened upon her “workshop” during her syrup season and got to see it being made firsthand. She has her trees around the lake and they were collecting the spring run. The wooden house is on the right hand side heading towards Indian Lake and she usually has a flag out by the street. It’s very easy to miss, so start going slower about 18 miles down the road….
