Les Fougères

In a list of its own !
Les Fougères is one of Canada's best restaurants. It's 3,5 km from the house - so you can drink and walk ... perfect under the stars of balmy summer night or a crisp winter evening. Young chef Yannick Lasalle won the 2019 Canadian Culinary Championships. It is in a beautiful forested setting, has a great wine list and great service.

The Gatineau Park is a national park. It offers lakes for swimming, trails for walking, hiking, skiing, mountain biking. The Parkways within the park are turned over to cyclists on Sundays, just don't tell them it isn't theirs the rest of the time. Serious triathletes train here (swimming in Meech Lake), as do leasure cyclists wanting a hilly challenge. Runners train with a whistle to ward off the occasionnal bear and cub or insistant Canada geese. The old Carbide Mill ruinsat Meech Lake are as close as you can get to a nude beach in Ottawa...
