Parks & Nature

Here are some great parks within walking distance to Fireweed House.
A beautiful plaza along the river with large areas to wander and see the display around the statue. If you use the river path to walk along the Chena River, it will lead you to the Golden Heart Plaza.

This is a sweet little jewelry shop that's completely local! They have very beautiful Alaskan fine jewelry and some all around beautiful artwork. Go in to buy a piece, or even just to look at all the natural gold nuggets! Mike has several displays of quartz with gold veins running through it and some really interesting things to look at.

Food Scene

There are so many restaurants nearby but these are some of my recommendations; there are also plenty of food trucks roaming around in the summer! There are lots more restaurants downtown so if you don't see something here, you might like to just wander!
You can almost see it from Fireweed House and it has the BEST Thai food! There are multiple Thai restaurants in Fairbanks, and this one is my favorite.

This could easily fall into the category of "Drinks and Nightlife"; the bar there is beautiful and always packed! However, I really love this place for the food! Not within walking distance, but a local favorite and a beautiful drive, passing the viewing area for the Alaska Pipeline. Located in the beautiful Goldstream Valley - it is about a 10-15 minute drive depending on road conditions. Not too far away but well worth it! World famous Prime Rib and Prawns and the #1 voted best salad bar in Fairbanks several years running. Highly recommended.

Drinks & Nightlife

The house is in a great spot for bar-hopping during the midnight sun summers, or the cool snowy winters. So many of my favorite downtown destinations. All this within walking distance from Fireweed House to night life, downtown, and the mild summer nights or sparkly snowy walks will have you out and about having fun longer than you think!
This place is super cute and just a short walk away from Fireweed House! Great food and atmosphere One of my (many) favorites downtown, very high on the favorite list due to proximity to Fireweed House, decor and great menu.
