Parks & Nature
A lovely nearby State park w/ numerous and excellent all year round hiking trails. This park is why Jim moved here. When there's snow they have scenic groomed trails for x-country skiing, snowshoeing and a SLEDDING HILL for winter tubing. Rentals are avail there. Good to reserve. They have a nice little lodge for warming up and getting some snacks and hot cocoa. Fun for all ages, groups, families and couples. In summer and early fall there is great family swimming beach area with canoe/row boat rentals available.

Fahnestock Winter Park

Excellent Hudson River hikes. So many great trails between Cold Spring and Beacon. Can get quite busy on weekends. Hikes have amazing Hudson views at the top.

You can walk to this newly preserved local hiking area right from "The Lodge". The trailhead is a 1/4 mile down the road. Maps are avail at the Lodge and online. A great local hiking area w/marked trails that you don't even have to drive to. Good views in the winter. In the summer, there's nice shade and tree covers on these hillside trails. Vibrant and beautiful in the fall.

This is part of the Empire State Bike Trail that goes all the way from NYC to Lake Champlain. This is the North County section and trail can be access from Bryant Pond parking area, Yorktown Heights and Mahopac depending on which direction you want to bike. Arden Point and Glenclyffe
96 Lower Station RdA great place for a lovely and relatively easy/ flat hike. Great for all ages. It’s just beautiful there, new bridges, updated trails, AND it gets excellent winter sun.

We love that there is now a Trader Joe's nearby! (Just down the Taconic State Parway exit 17.) They have so many great items, best deals on flowers and everyone that works there is so friendly and helpful plus you can get a Starbucks which is right next door.

The church is a striking piece of vernacular architecture, devoutly inspired and authentically detailed. The mission church, "the Church of the North American Martyrs", is built like an Iroquois long house, with a barrel-shaped ceiling and false-face masks staring outward to ward off evil spirits. Very unique historical structure just in downtown Putnam Valley.
