Food Scene

Great place for coffee and/or food any time of the day. Wood-fired pizza, full deli counter, baked goods, beer and wine. They also have a small but good selection of produce and other grocery items. Fun, relaxed atmosphere and a nice patio. You'll be glad it's only 1 1/2 blocks away!

aka, The Little Poca Cosa - Breakfast and Lunch, Cash only. The freshest, tastiest Mexican food around. This is a spot where locals eat. The Davila family are beloved in Tucson and are known for their fantastic food and their charitable works in Mexico. Two Davila sisters, Sandra and Marcella, run this place, the little sibling of their sister Suzana's restaurant, The Cafe Poca Cosa. Casual, down-home place with loud music (they like it that way!), and a nice little patio out front. Try any of the daily special mixed fruit juices - your body will thank you. Prepare to be hugged.

Whenever I'm in town, I have at least one meal at the Cup. Located in the lobby of the historic Hotel Congress, the Cup Cafe serves great breakfast, lunch and dinner, and it's got a terrific patio and a fun bar as well. There are three more bars in the lobby of the Hotel Congress, and lots of live music and other fun things going on both inside and out. You should check it out.

Drinks & Nightlife

Sky Bar is only 1 block over, on 4th Avenue. In addition to cocktails, beer and wine, they serve coffee during the day and you can get food sent over from Brooklyn's Pizza, next door. At night, however, the patio of this astronomy-theemed bar will have at least one, usually 2-3, large telescopes set up so that you can look at the stars while you enjoy your drinks. There are always friendly people who will help you use the telescope and talk about what they're pointed at that evening. On Friday nights, things can really get interesting - several times there have been groups juggling with flaming torches in the parking lot before the telescopes come out!

Historic downtown Tucson landmark, infamous as the place where John Dillinger was arrested in the 1930's. Home to the Cup Cafe and lots of spaces to grab a drink and listen to live music. Worth it!
