There's paddleboard rentals, cabana and umbrella rentals, walk the beach and find all kinds of shells and see diving pelicans and other wildlife. Remember is you pick up a shell and something moves inside, or you pick up a sanddollar and the underside moves, then it's still alive. Place it back in the exact spot you found it. Let it live so there will be more in the future. If everyone picked up one living being, extinction could occur from all the visitors that come to Marco. You can walk a 2 hour round trip hike from Tigertail Beach entrance north to the very northern tip of Marco's beach across from Hideaway Beach. It's very beautiful.

Did you know that the Calusa Indians (the shell indians) lived on Marco in the 1500's to 1700's. The history of these extinct first settlers is very amazing. Visit the museum to see exhibits and learn of these inhabitants.

His south museum is along Route 41 just east of Everglades City. Over Labor Day you can take a guided swamp walk or rent one of 2 cottages on site in that location.
