If you need a grocery store while you’re at our cabin, there’s a convenient one about a mile away, the Trading Post. It’s small but well stocked. They have a little meat market inside, with great steaks and other cuts. We usually buy our steaks there to put on the grill. They’re at 1712 Park Road 36. Pktradingpost.com; 940-779-2543.

This place is a local favorite that serves up good food: breakfast until 2P, lunch, and dinner. Dinner served only on weekends, so call first. According to my husband, a hamburger aficionado, they have great burgers — hefty and delicious! 940-779-2284

An important note about the area wildlife
Possum Kingdom is a gorgeous lake with mountain views and lots of wildlife. The wildlife includes possums, geese, rabbits, deer, turtles, foxes, blue herons, many species of birds, and snakes. These animals live at the lake year-round. Most are non-aggressive, but some are aggressive. Awareness and caution are advised when walking and playing outdoors. Please be safe.

BURN BANS
Due to droughts, dry trees and grasses, local authorities often impose a burn ban, especially in the summer. When a burn ban is in effect, lighting fires and burning items — including fire pits — is not allowed. Please check with local authorities or the Possum Kingdom Chamber of Commerce website before lighting or creating a flame of any kind. Please be safe!
